Understanding The NDIS and NDIA

What is the NDIA?
The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is an independent statutory agency whose responsibility is to put the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) into action so that the hundreds of thousands of Australians with major and permanent disabilities, as well as their families and caregivers, can live better lives. The NDIA core responsibilities include:
  • give people access to information and recommendations, links to services and activities, individualised plans, and, where necessary, financial support.
  • empower and inform persons with disabilities to help them become knowledgeable consumers.
  • enable service providers to build their businesses and meet demand by giving them clarity and transparency.
  • increase public awareness, promotes better participation of people with disabilities in community activities, mainstream services, and other government programmes.

What is the NDIS?

What is the NDIS?
For starters, NDIS stands for National Disability Insurance Scheme.

In 2013, the Australian government introduced the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) to help persons with disabilities; such as intellectual, physical, sensory, and psychosocial problems. NHCS Australia provides a wide range of homecare services that include, but are not limited to; NDIS support, personal care, mobility care, community and social participation care, and domestic assistance services.

In order to support persons with disabilities, the NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) offers flexible support so that you may manage to achieve your short-, medium-, and long-term goals. Assuring disabled people continue to receive the assistance they require is a top objective for the NDIS.

Understanding Australia’s National Disability Insurance Scheme

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian government-funded program that provides disability-related care and support to people under the age of 65.

The NDIS caters to those who have a major and persistent disability, or disabilities that have a significant impact on their ability to participate in daily activities.

First, prospective NDIS participants need to find out if you qualify for NDIS funding first. If you satisfy the criteria, you must select a plan that suits your needs and apply for enough NDIS money to obtain the help and care you need. Need more help? Contact our NDIS Support Coordinator today!
